5 Tarot Cards “Allies” Every Anxious Person Needs ⋆ LonerWolf


Things have been a little crazy in the world lately.

How do you feel? You feel that sharp edge existential panic sometimes like me?

Fear in the face of police brutality, authoritarian governments, war, civil unrest, and all the other chaos we witness is a normal, healthy and human reaction.

But here’s a question I don’t see asked:

How we find meaning reasonableness, calmness and prudence when the world around us seems broken?

As we find inner clarity and stability when we are filled with violent emotions?

Here I turn to one of my own favorite tools for healing, self-growth and clarity: tarot

I first started my journey with tarot back in 2015 year – an emotionally unstable time when I was in the depths of healing from religious trauma and trying to pull myself together again.

What immediately struck me about this fascinating collection of 78 postcards is how it captures every aspect of my inner and outer world. It helped me articulate my experience, process what I was feeling, and gave me a daily anchor of clarity and sanity.

There’s something about having your feelings, experiences, and inner self manifest in a physical object that you can hold, look at, and think about. extremely therapeutic.

(Note here that i use tarot in a the present moment meaning. Using it to “predict” the future can actually do the opposite for anxiety sufferers and lead to paranoia. I believe that the future is not set in stone, which is why I use the Tarot expand opportunities me with a choice, not to tell about an allegedly predetermined path.)

But Tarot is not just some mysterious new age tool. In the words of lawyer and tarot expert Benebel Wen,

The tarot represents the spectrum of the human condition, good, evil, light and darkness. Don’t be afraid of the dark aspects of the human condition. Understand them. Tarot is a book of stories about life, about the greatness of human achievement, and about the ugliness that each of us is capable of.

Light and shadow, birth and death, happiness and sadnessall coexist in the Tarot. That’s what makes it so powerful for solving life’s problems, and in this case, existential panic.

Surviving Existential Panic: 5 “Allies” Tarot Cards When Everything Seems Broken

I know of no other spiritual tool that captivates, empowers and heals like the Tarot. – D. Cunliffe

What I love about tarot is how visually striking it is and how often it sparks immediate understanding and reflects the deep wisdom of our soul.

Your task is:

Take a central breath, then scroll through the list of tarot cards below and notice which one you have an internal reaction to (such as tingling, a sense of expansion, knowledge, or intrigue).

Nextread the description and apply this knowledge in your life during the next week. You can even right-click or screenshot the image to save it to your phone or computer or include it in your journal.

If you want to get your own deck of cards for meditation and reflection, I recommend the following: Craft Tarot (what I use below) Smith Waite Centennial Tarot Deck, or Ethereal Visions Tarot.

Pay attention that tarot is not a substitute for therapy, and I’m not a therapist either (I’m a psychospiritual educator and guide). But we are there is using it “therapeutically” in this post.

Here are five “Tarot Allies” you can turn to to help you deal with existential panic:

1. Magician

The magician is a prototype creation, willpower, manifestation and channeling of divine consciousness into form. He owns Which one or active energy.

Used therapeutically, Magician reminds you that you have the power to turn the anxiety you feel into an art form. You have the ability to create something from your pain that is extremely grounding and healing. Don’t rest on your laurels and passively wither away in a cesspool of anger and suffering. The wizard is asking you create!

2. Three of swords

The three of swords represents heartbreak, sadness, trauma, grief and betrayal. However, what I find so strikingly beautiful about this card are the rain clouds in the background. They symbolize allowing yourself to grieve and letting go of the pain that has been weighing your heart down. Also, notice that the heart does not bleed even when pierced, symbolizing the true strength of the soul.

Therapeutically, the Three of Swords asks you to do this let it burn itself and do not hold in pain. Crying, shaking fists, hitting a pillow (in safe conditions). This will help to remove the internal burden.

3. Queen of Pentacles

The Queen of Pentacles represents the part of you that is domestic, caring, practical, wealthy, security minded and connected to the earth. Whether you identify as male or female doesn’t matter; we everything to have this earthy “motherly” energy within us.

Therapeutically, the Queen of Pentacles is asking you to do this ground your nervous system in everyday practical life tasks. That is, leave social networks and get out into nature. Take care of your body, make your home a safe nest and ground yourself in the here and now.

4. Four of swords

The four of swords symbolizes mental rest, meditation, silence, solitude and reflection. It’s the map most of us need in this hyper-stimulating, overwhelming and noisy world. Again, the message here is clear.

Therapeutically, the Four of Swords asks you to slow down, reduce external noise, and spend more time resting. Stop scrolling doom and dedicate this time keeping a diarymeditation or just sitting and doing nothing for a while. Reset your mind and body and see things from a higher perspective.

5. Queen of swords

The Queen of Swords represents many qualities, but I will highlight those insight, strong boundaries, clarity, independence and truthfulness.

Of all the tarot cards that say “NO BS”, the Queen of Swords comes first. One hand clutches the sword of insight and truth, while the other is open, symbolizing justice and openness. I see it as “healthy boundaries“. We don’t want rigid or porous borders; we do legible borders.

Therapeutically, this inner archetype asks you to set better boundaries for your time and energy. Feelings of existential panic and anxiety in life often come from too much negativity from social media and unpleasant people in our personal lives. Here’s your invitation to start talking no more notice the pitfalls of thinkingand begin to give and receive energy more freely.

Three more cards you can explore Strength (practicing self-compassion), Six of cups ( caring for your inner child map), and Three cups ( seek support from others map).

Tarot is an extremely powerful tool for healing, clarity and guidance.

You don’t need to memorize all 78 cards to benefit from this centuries-old practice. Just look at the picture and notice what comes up in your mind and body – that’s how I first approached cards. I haven’t looked back since.
