Ditch the gurus, trust your own wisdom ⋆ LonerWolf


It’s 1:01pm as I write this and I’m honestly a bit tired and confused.

You see, part of my job is to read, research, and take note of what people are doing in the healing space. Days like today make me want to close my laptop and live life in the wilderness with no internet, surrounded by animals and nature and that’s it.

But I’m a grown man with responsibilities and people I love (and mediocre survival skills), so I don’t.

What annoys me so much is the amount of content that actively tries deprive us of our inherent strength. He gives us poison while selling us medicine. It tells us that we are not good enough or good enough or could have more under the guise of empowerment.

Also, an increasing amount of it is AI scum – which… don’t even get me started on the existential threat what there is

Things like: How To Fuck Your Way To Wealth, The Most Effective Way To Raise Your Vibration, Monetize Your Aura, Habits That Can Rebuild Your Body In 120 Days, how how

Then there are those who sell $3,000 training packages, or those who promise to “end your suffering” forever with their magic questions.

Don’t get me wrong. There is a lot of beauty in helping people. People have to earn a living (including me internal workspace), and I don’t mind.

But I have a problem culture guru. In the endless circle of the hamster get more. In those who encourage us to impart our wisdom to another person or thing.

Ditch the gurus, trust your own wisdom

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty burned out on today’s world of self-help and spirituality in general.

Recently somewhere on the Internet I read from someone (unfortunately, I don’t remember from whom) this golden statement:

“A true teacher works for his own obsolescence.”

I think that is true. However, a large amount of culture and spirituality favors the opposite.

If someone is acting as a teacher, guide or guru, they should be encouraging you to access this energy inside myself – do not encourage dependence upon them for their omnipotent wisdom or insight. (And this happens both overtly and subtly, a lot. You can thank the human ego for that.)

That’s what I love about the concept “self training” so many. It is a form of self-directed learning (aka being self-taught), which encourages you to reject the guru and trust in your own wisdom. It is the path of the lone wolf, followed in one form or another by solitary sages, philosophers, and mystics throughout the ages.

Self-Learning: The Soul’s Path to Self-Sovereignty

So how do we let go of the guru—whether it’s a self-help influencer, a popular YouTuber, an awakened author, or a traditional spiritual teacher—and start trusting our own innate wisdom?

Because this is the truth we everything there is a source of understanding and divine light within. Yes, it often hides behind false beliefs, nervous system dysregulation, and old traumas. But it is there.

Personally, I take this less grueling and crazy route as humanly possible.

Here is the Soul’s path to self-sovereignty, based on personal experience:

Personal Trainer Tip #1 – Read books… yes, real books

Reading requires retraining the brain to focus. If you’re used to short bursts of dopamine-inducing information (eg from social media, advertising, television), this can be difficult. But it’s all business a habit. So add it to your daily routine. (If you’re spiritually inclined, you can also incorporate this into your practice—it’s called divine lesson, or divine reading.)

Start with 10 minutes, then 20 a week later, 30 the next week, and eventually 1 hour. Make do with what you have and be realistic.

What I love about books is that they are self-contained. There are no algorithms that feed off your energy and attention like demonic leeches. There’s no poorly written or researched nonsense (usually). Instead, you have a beautiful piece of art in your hands that someone has spent hours, weeks, and sometimes years of their life creating.

I have taken many courses over the years. I have joined many monthly subscriptions. But none of them came close to offering me the wealth that comes from it a modest book. what appears the power of bibliotherapy. Yes, you pay for your time. But the reward is a greater degree of self-discovery, empowerment, and integration.

Self-Coaching Tip #2 – Learn to Listen to Your Intuitive, Gut Wisdom

So many of the answers we seek in the work of a guru can be found within our own bodies, hearts and souls. Actually, I would say the majority if not everything The wisdom we hear from others is a mirror our own inherent wisdom. After all, at the deepest level we are all Spirit.

To reclaim your power, learn to listen to your intuition. A few ways to do this that I like:

  1. Embodying and grounding. In other words, learn to calm your nervous system and break out of chronic patterns of fight, flight, freeze, or hunt. This somatic practice will help you tap into the wisdom that resides within your body more accurately. I wrote a huge meaty guide nervous systemwhich can help you learn how to do this. Remember: your body is an oracle.
  2. Meditate to clear mental clutter. I really like candlelight meditation (Trataka) for this. Here is my guide to some other meditation techniques it can help you create more mental space.
  3. Use some symbolic tool. The symbols are meant to be interpreted, which helps develop your intuition. I really enjoy using it tarot and oracle cards to help me break out of my self-inflicted mental ruts. The symbols are often archetypal in nature, and through practice you can learn to hear the voice of your intuition and trust it more.

Self-Training Tip #3 – Keep a journal or the art of self-talk

My novel with journaling goes back to my childhood. It’s a practice that got me through the darkest lows of my life and sustains me to this day.

I have created many managed journals over the years that encourage self-study and trust in one’s own wisdom. Some of these names include:

Whether you choose guided or unguided journaling, the power always rests with you your hands. No one tells you how you “should” feel, think, or be. No one is forcing you to work them temp. Instead you decide how far you go. Journaling gives you an opportunity grow in self-awareness and wisdom by illuminating the darkness of your psyche and touching the truth of your soul.

Self-study is one of the few practices these days that keeps me from going crazy and smashing my laptop into things (just kidding…right?).

In a system that preys on your insecurities and feeds you poison while selling you medicine, putting the power back in your hands reminds you of this eternal truth:

You are not broken.

You don’t have to do anything to be valuable.

You don’t have to be someone special to be worthy.

You are inherently worthy.

You are whole at your core.
